Can you microdose with LSA?
A lesser-known psychedelic substance in plants is LSA and the question is whether you can also microdose with it. Just like psilocybin from mushrooms and truffles, LSA could also have positive effects at lower doses. In this blog we look at how you could approach microdosing and what the benefits could be.
What is LSA?
LSA stands for lysergic acid amide. There are various plants that produce this substance. LSA is often compared to LSD, because it has similar effects. It is only much less strong, namely a maximum of one tenth of the strength of LSD. In addition, it is less stimulating and at higher doses has a calming effect. LSD is a man-made substance. LSA occurs naturally in plants. This also means that the seeds in which the substance occurs also contain a considerable amount of other substances (alkaloids) with their own effects.
The most well-known plants that contain LSA are:
- Hawaiian Baby Woodrose (Argyreia nervosa): The seeds of this plant contain the highest concentration of LSA. One seed contains about 0.25mg LSA.
- Morning Glory (Ipomoea violacea): The seeds of this garden plant, which originate from Central America, also contain LSA, but not in large quantities. One seed contains only 0.01 mg LSA, which means you have to eat quite a few seeds before you notice an effect.
- Ololiuqui (Rivea corymbosa): About Ololiuqhui is not yet well known and it is therefore not really known how much LSA the seeds contain.
What are the benefits of microdosing with LSA?
As with other psychedelics, mind-altering substances can have a positive effect on our mental and emotional well-being. By taking a microdose, you can benefit from these (mild) benefits, without having to go through a whole trip.
For LSA, a normal dose has a sedative and calming effect. It is often the case that a microdose can have the opposite effect. For example, microdoses of LSA could actually give you energy and it is often indicated that it can have a positive effect on your mood. You may sleep better and experience a pain-relieving effect. A study from 2017 showed that microdosing with LSA can relieve pain in people with migraines. It caused a decrease in the frequency and severity of the attacks.
LSA is not yet used very often for microdosing and research into the effects has not yet been done on a large scale. Therefore, not much is known about the effects. However, there are experience stories to be found on the internet. For example, people who microdose with LSA indicate that they notice an improvement in cognition. One person even reported that they thought their "IQ had improved".
Another person reported that the day he microdosed, he didn't feel great because of the side effects. But the next 2 days, he felt great. He wasn't as anxious as usual, he felt content and relaxed, but he was still able to function normally. It took the edge off, he felt less anxious, and that evil little voice we all hear from time to time was much quieter. He values what he has more.
How do you approach microdosing with LSA?
As with other forms of microdosing, dosing is something you have to try out for yourself. There is no manual or instruction manual available. The idea is to find a dosage that works for you, where you notice as few side effects as possible and of course do not get high.
LSA can cause a trip at a dose of 0.5 to 1.5 mg and a high dose is 4 mg. A microdose is a tenth of this, so your dosage should be between 0.05 and 0.4 mg. Keep in mind that much less is known about the effects of microdosing with LSA than with psilocybin, cannabis or LSD. So be careful and always start with a low dose.
Side effects
Side effects of LSA are common at normal doses, but should be less severe at a microdose. Stomach complaints such as nausea, diarrhea and stomach cramps are often reported. These are caused by substances found in the skin of the seeds of Hawaiian Baby Woodrose and Morning Glory. You can prevent this by peeling off the skin, which is easy to do with Hawaiian Baby Woodrose. This is more difficult with Morning Glory seeds. To prevent nausea, you can first soak these seeds in water for 3 to 4 days. Make sure you change the water every day.
Also, LSA can cause headaches and a high heart rate because it has a vasoconstrictive effect. Never use this drug in combination with MAO inhibitors, antidepressants or substances that increase blood pressure, such as coffee or ephedrine. In any case, always ask your doctor for advice on whether LSA is safe for you to use, because it is a drug that is not yet very well known.
The seeds are also very hard and do not taste nice. If you have trouble with that, grind them and make tea from them. This can also reduce the chance of nausea and stomach complaints and makes them easier to take.
Is microdosing with LSA recommended?
Microdosing with LSA can have advantages, because the effects are slightly different from microdosing with mushrooms or truffles. In some countries, LSA seeds are also easier to obtain than mushrooms or truffles. However, microdosing with LSA is more complicated, not much is known about its effects and it can cause side effects. Psilocybin is known to be a safe option and you can find easy-to-use, ready-made dosages in our shop.
Below you will find a suggestion for a text block that you can add to the bottom of the blog, for example under the heading “Important Warning” or as a closing paragraph. This increases credibility, addresses the YMYL issues and creates clarity for the reader:
Important Warning
The information in this blog is intended for educational purposes and is not intended as medical advice. LSA is a powerful psychoactivkun-je-microdoseren-met-lsa/e substance and its use can involve risks. The experiences shared in this blog are anecdotal and subjective; there is no scientific evidence that, for example, cognitive improvements such as a higher IQ can be objectively demonstrated through LSA use. Always consult a physician or medical professional before deciding to experiment with microdosing, especially if you are taking medication or have a medical condition.
In addition, it is important to know that possessing or using LSA-containing seeds is prohibited or subject to legislation in some countries. Inform yourself well about the applicable laws and regulations in your country before considering using LSA.
