The Cascadian Teacher is known as a strain with an average to above average potency. This means that the effects are generally well balanced: not too overwhelming, but certainly powerful enough for a deep experience. Many users describe this strain as clear, introspective and visually rich - without being immediately overwhelming.
Make sure your workspace is clean to prevent other microorganisms from contaminating your grow kit. It is important to work hygienically. Always use clean tap water or mineral water for misting and soaking your grow kit. Do not use distilled water or demineralised water, as this is not suitable.
Open the bag by removing the airtight clip at the top. Provide the bag with some fresh air by gently stretching it and then close it again with the clip. To prevent mushrooms from growing on the sides of the substrate, you can place an elastic band around the outside of the bag at the height of the top of your substrate to reduce the chance of side pins. Place the elastic band about 1.5 cm below the top of the substrate.
Monitoring the growth: Keep a close eye on the bag when the mushrooms start to grow. You do not need to water the first two times. As soon as the caps start to open, it is time to harvest. Note that not all varieties have veils or drop spores.
Harvesting: Before harvesting, ensure a clean environment by sanitizing your hands with alcohol and preferably wearing latex gloves. To harvest, rotate the mushrooms clockwise. Harvest as soon as the caps begin to open for optimal potency. The fruits will be ready for harvest after two to four weeks, depending on growing conditions and mushroom species.
Post-Harvest Maintenance: After harvesting the second flush, add a small amount of water (about 1/3 to the level of the substrate in the bag). Re-seal the bag with the clip, making sure it is airtight. Remember to add fresh air by removing and re-attaching the clip. Drain excess water if it is not absorbed within twelve hours.
Temperature Control: Keep the temperature steady within the 20-25 degrees Celsius (68-77°F) range for best growing results. Avoid large fluctuations in temperature.
Subsequent Harvests: Expect to get at least two harvests from each bag, but it may be possible to get three or even four harvests. After each harvest, reseal the bag and add water to encourage further flowering.
It is wise to start the growing process as soon as you receive the grow kit. If you choose to start later, which may affect the quality of the kit, you can store the grow kit in the refrigerator (at temperatures between 2°C and 8°C) for up to 2 weeks. You can simply leave the grow bag with mycelium in the box and place it in the refrigerator. Make sure your refrigerator is clean and free of mold. As an extra precaution, you can place the kit in a clean plastic bag or grow bag.
