Kanna (Sceletium tortuosum) is a plant native to South Africa.
About three hundred years ago, the Khoikhoi looked to the roots for euphoric effects.
The Dutch who used to live in South Africa logically called it 'kaugoed'.
It grows to a length of about 12 inches with low branches and thick, fleshy leaves. The plant has beautiful small yellow flowers.
Growing the Kanna plant is much like growing a cactus and is generally considered very easy.
The recommended method is to sprinkle the seeds over cactus potting soil, press them lightly into the soil and water. Germination should take place after two weeks to two months.
